Fill the gaps in your law firm’s marketing program.
CMO2go was founded on the belief that law firms of all sizes can benefit from working with a fractional team of veteran legal marketers who know legal marketing inside and out.
Our team learned to speak fluent lawyer from decades of experience working for global mega firms like Sidley, Jones Day, Mayer Brown, Greenberg Traurig and Fried Frank – but marketing and business development is our first language and our specializations in the industry range from content marketing to external communications to RFP whispering.

Erika Steinberg
Our founder Erika Steinberg once gifted her Sidley colleagues pint glasses that read “The glass is always full.”
Known for her optimism, ability to lead a team towards a common goal, and unfailing reliability, she’s been in every marketing position from assistant to head of the department.
She’s built and rebuilt marketing departments, created and directed multi-level teams and successfully managed many projects on-time and on-budget.
Erika earned her BA in History from The George Washington University and then realized she couldn’t do much with a history degree – so she went back to GW at night and got her MBA. After years as a city dweller in D.C. and NYC, she now lives along the winding roads of Westchester County, NY with her family and their pandemic parakeet.
When she’s not talking about law firm marketing with anyone who’s interested, Erika loves to get lost in a good book (bonus points if you know Thursday Next), come up with a new cookie recipe or exercise to work off the cookies. Among her kids and their friends, she’s known for her very specific laugh as well as those amazingly delicious cookies (and yes, they’re worth the calories).

Cortney Nathanson
Cortney’s also known for her in-depth understanding of SEO, marketability, branding, content planning and creation, and client development. A compelling storyteller and resourceful dot connector, she is clear and precise, responsive, and unafraid to play devil’s advocate when needed.
Cortney has an MBA in Management and Marketing and a BA in Communications, and believes strongly in working to advance equity, diversity and inclusion efforts in the workplace. In her spare time, she’s applied her marketing savvy to help women-owned, local businesses amplify their brands and client reach. After two decades of living in New York City, she now resides in Connecticut with her family and an array of deer, wild turkeys, red foxes, frogs and chipmunks.

Elizabeth Kennedy
Elizabeth has led strategic initiatives and built business development infrastructure and teams at top firms including Mayer Brown, Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner (formerly Bryan Cave), Debevoise, Weil and Hogan Lovells (formerly Hogan & Hartson). As a consultant, she’s worked with firms of all sizes, including boutique and mid-sized firms.
Elizabeth earned her BS in Psychology and Economics from Fordham University. Her early interest in economic and social injustices led her to roles in communications, advertising and business development. Her passion for the business of law took shape later on when she joined Jaffe Associates to advise law firms on growth strategies. A native Washingtonian and long-time New Yorker, Elizabeth now lives in Charlotte, NC with her spouse, David, and their two Siberian husky-mix puppies, Jake and Roxy.

Tracy Freedenberg
Tracy is our Wonder Woman of writing, known for her superhuman ability to briefly disappear then lasso your inbox with phenomenal content.
In her 10+ years as a freelance legal content marketer she’s written a range of material, including marketing collateral for Greenberg Traurig, multiple white papers, and the words on a promotional candy bar wrapper.
Sound intimidating? Never fear – she’s so approachable that one of the attorneys she worked with recently asked her for fashion advice before a client meeting (and actually followed it!).
In her role at CMO2go, Tracy interviews partners, offers story-shaping ideas and ensures that all content is both engaging and ABA compliant. She has worked with many types of firms, from Am Law 100 to a legal tech firm startup focused on amplifying women and people of color, always asking nuanced questions to get the story right.
A native of Concord, MA and a Tufts graduate with a master’s in journalism from NYU, Tracy currently lives in New Rochelle with her husband and three children, where she enjoys visiting the Hudson Valley’s craft brewing companies, reading memoirs and riding her Peloton.

Erin Alli
Erin is a multitalented fractional operations director with two decades of experience that also includes professional copywriting, copyediting and a degree in graphic design.
At CMO2go, Erin organizes the moving parts of the business, cutting out the chaos and keeping complex things simple. By focusing on running the business, she allows Erika and the rest of her team to work with their clients and grow the company.
Erin is known for keeping things fun and for building relationships with everyone she works with. But she’s not afraid to advocate when it’s the right time to make a change, add new people or tools, or stop trying to fix what isn’t broken.
Outside of work, Erin has been involved with rescue animals for over 25 years and runs a pet-sitting business with her daughter-in-law in Southern Delaware, where she helps new owners get their rescues acclimated and settled. She loves nature and gardening, and you’ll find her outside whenever possible.
