Every project starts with a plan, and ends with results.
No Senior Leader. New Tech. Tight Deadlines.
Here’s What Happened.
An Am Law 100 firm faced a critical gap in its marketing and business development infrastructure. The pitch and proposal team had just lost its senior manager, leaving a group of junior professionals responsible for supporting RFPs and pitches across multiple practices.
The workload was intense. At the same time, the team had unexpectedly been tasked with rolling out a new proposal automation platform — despite having little marketing technology experience and no dedicated IT or marketing technology lead assigned to the project.
The firm engaged one of CMO2go’s fractional marketing leaders to stabilize the function, mentor the team and ensure key initiatives continued moving forward.
The pitch and proposal team was talented and motivated, but inexperienced and stretched thin. Our fractional marketing leader quickly stepped in to provide hands-on mentorship — helping the team navigate demanding internal stakeholders, manage expectations and develop the confidence to set appropriate boundaries around workload and priorities. She also worked directly with team members on active RFPs, strengthening first drafts and guiding them through complex proposal responses.
At the same time, the firm was preparing to roll out a new proposal automation platform. The project had progressed further than expected, but key elements were not fully ready for launch. The fractional marketing leader assessed the rollout, identified gaps and helped the team articulate why the system was not ready. Working with firm leadership, she helped pause the rollout until the platform could be implemented effectively — avoiding a launch that would have created confusion and additional strain on the team.
With experienced leadership in place, the firm’s pitch and proposal function remained effective during a period of disruption. The junior team gained mentorship and support, complex proposals moved forward successfully and a major technology rollout was brought back under control.
This is the role CMO2go’s fractional leaders often play: stepping in quickly, stabilizing critical marketing functions and ensuring important initiatives continue moving forward when internal teams are stretched thin.
